2025 Kuan Du Light Art Festival — Illusonic

 

The 2025 Kuandu Light Art Festival unfolds under the theme Illusonic, treating sound and light as dual mediators of perception and carriers of information. Within the spectacle of contemporary society, sensory experience has been transformed into a consumerist mirage, produced and intensified by the capitalist deployment of audiovisual stimulation. Here, sound and light no longer appear as natural phenomena but as algorithmic semiotic mechanisms—designed to dull perception, homogenize audiences, and, much like the logic of artificial intelligence, fold individuals into calculable and predictable data units.

 

Illusonic seeks to open another horizon within this politics of perception: through the generative power of illusion, it attempts to summon the human capacity to resonate with “echoes of the fictional.” Amid a landscape disciplined by computation, the project calls us to listen for the residual reverberations that elude statistics, and to rediscover, at the threshold of light and sound, new modes of perception that resist homogenization.
